Grandparent's Day for Micah

Here is a picture of Micah and Mimi and Papa right before they left to go to Grandparent's Day.  And then just moments after I took this picture, Micah ran to get his backpack, which I had set on the bombe chest that is in our entry area.  Well, there was also a large fruit centerpiece type decoration sitting there.  So just picture it . . . a little boy moving full steam ahead to go get his backpack and go to school with his grandparents and get to eat DONUTS at school with them.  Of course paying no attention to the fact that there may be breakable things near his backpack.  And paying no attention at all because that is his personality.  You can probably guess what happens next.

This happens.  He grabs his backpack and pulls the fruit right off the table, shattering it into a billion pieces.  The glass was EVERYWHERE.  The kitchen, the laundry room, our bedroom.  I wasn't really mad at him because it was truly an accident and he wasn't doing anything wrong per se.  Of course, I would love for him to start being more attentive to his surroundings and just pay better attention in general, but I'm accepting that more than likely it will never happen.  It just isn't who he is.  He pays great attention to details, but only ones that matter to him, such as small teeny tiny legos.  But he doesn't pay attention at all to the fact that he is not holding his toast over his plate and he is slinging jelly all over the table.

After all the cleanup, I was sad to see that the fruit had damaged my floors.  Those three spots that make a triangle are where the floor is dented.  Thankfully though they look better now.  When I took this picture, the dents were filled with dust from the broken glass and that made them stand out much more than they do now that they are clean.

He had a good time at Grandparent's Day and that is (mostly) all that matters!

Veteran's Day Performance

Maddie's teacher likes to put on a Veteran's Day Performance for her class.  Apparently, each year other teachers in the fourth grade have also joined in her performance.  This year there were four fourth grade classes involved and they put on a very good performance.  I was actually quite impressed with the performance, especially considering the fact that she is not a music teacher or a teacher that specializes in performing.

The kids had the opportunity to invite any family who had served in the armed forces to the performance and then they got to hold up a sign with that family member's name.  Since my Dad was in the Navy, Maddie got to hold a sign with his name.  She loved it!

New Year's Fun

This is how we spent our New Year's Eve.  At home with the kiddos having a movie night.  Absolutely no place that I would rather be!  It was a double feature this night - Despicable Me 1 and 2.  And popcorn, of course.

Lucky Duck

Over Christmas break we decided to take the kids to Andy B's while Nana and Grandpa were visiting so we could use up some game cards that we had left over from a party we attended there quite some time ago.  The kids were having a great time and one particular game was a favorite of Micah's.  It was a pure luck kind of game.  You spin a big wheel and whatever it lands on, you get those tickets.  Well, right towards the end of our time there, this lucky little dude landed on 1000 and won 1000 tickets.  Seriously.  He is so lucky!

Christmas 2013

We had a great Christmas this year, as always.  We are all so blessed with lots of wonderful things but also great family and friends to celebrate with.

Here are some pictures of our Christmas.

The Nutcracker

Mark was able to get two tickets (for free!) for Maddie and I to see the Nutcracker.  She LOVES the ballet and can watch patiently for a really long time.  I'm not quite as fond of it as she is, but I love spending time with her so it is worth it to me.  And thankfully, I have seen it enough times now that I actually understand what is going on so it was really pretty enjoyable this year.  And the seats we had were very, very good seats so that makes it nice when you are so close!

I love my sweet girl.  She's growing up too quick but thankfully she still seems to enjoying hanging out with her mama.

Micah's Class Christmas Party

Here are some cute pics from Micah's class party.  It was funny . . . the girl that Micah sits by on the carpet for group time had left early that day.  So Mason sat down next to Micah and joined in their story time.  After they read a story, they sat down to decorate a cookie and it turns out that the same girl sits right across from Micah.  So Mason plopped himself down in the girl's seat and proceeded to pretend to be a Kindergartner.  They had plenty of cookies and supplies so he got to decorate a cookie with them.  Micah had a fun time at his party (and Mason did too)!
