Lego Camp

This year Micah went to a "Lego Camp".  The theme was Angry Birds and they built Lego creations that were centered around Angry Birds.  This of course was right up his alley and he had a great time and loved every minute.  There wasn't really much to take a picture of because parents didn't stay for any of this camp but here is a picture of him right before the first day of camp.

Not Again!

So as Maddie was recovering from the giant bruise, she took a hard hit in the other leg while at bat and now has a big bruise on the other leg.

Here is the old bruise:

Here is her new bruise:

And as if she weren't already beat up enough, she got hit in the finger as well so she had some bruising there too!  This crazy girl is looking a bit abused but I think she is going to survive!

Pucker Up!

So for quite some time, Maddie has been begging to do a lemonade stand.  I was always willing to let her do this but just wasn't looking forward to it because I knew that most of the work (preparing the lemonade!), would fall on my shoulders.  However, early in June our neighborhood was having a garage sale so I thought that combining a lemonade stand with the garage sale would be a great idea since she would have plenty of customers.

We prepared lots of lemonade the day before and I put it into a container that would make it easy for her to dispense herself.  She made a super-cute sign and she was ready to go!  We actually had everything ready for our garage sale before I expected to, so we decided to bake cookies as well and sell those too.

She was open for business by 9:00 AM.  Micah decided he wanted to get in on the action too and since he is a pretty friendly guy, she decided he would be good for business and so he helped her sell part of the time.  I was shocked at how many people bought from them.  They made $25 total, which I thought was great.  To teach them a little about business, I made them reimburse me $5.00 for the supplies (even though the actual cost was probably greater than that).  So after they closed up, they had $20 to split between them so each walked away with $10.  Not a bad profit for a minimal effort!  I was really proud of them though because a couple of weeks after the garage sale they both decided to give their proceeds as offering at VBS.  Well, Micah actually made a few purchases at a softball game concession stand before giving his, but he gave what he had left.

I didn't get a picture of Micah working the stand because the garage sale was keeping us busy but here is one of Maddie and her cute sign!

Wicked

Last night Maddie and I went to see Wicked with some friends from church.  It was the first time for both of us to see it and we loved it!  Such a fun night!

A Day at the "Beach"

So today Micah, Mason and I took a little trek to Edmond and visited Lake Arcadia.  Kameron is visiting Nana so they met us there.  We chose a place that had a little sandy beach. The day started out quite overcast with a threat of rain but it ended up being a great day.  Not too hot but still some sunshine!  We discovered when we got there that the kids needed life jackets to get in the water and they sold them at a reasonable price so we went ahead and got them some so they could swim.  We were there from 11-2:30, so we definitely got our sunshine quota!

Ouch!

My sweet girl has a new boo boo.  At softball practice on Monday, she got nailed in the leg by the ball (a wayward throw, not intended for her).  She ended up with a pretty little bruise.

Unfortunately for her, she also is suffering from three canker sores.  So she has been slightly uncomfortable for a few days.

Thankfully, she is at Camp Loughridge this week so it has distracted her from all her ouchies.  She is having a great time with Emily and her new friend Paige!

Party of Two

So I have noticed that Maddie and Mason are so sweet and love each other.  And Mason and Micah are also so sweet with each other. But it is very rare to get a picture of Maddie and Micah together being sweet to each other.  Those moments do obviously happen, but they are certainly few and far between!  Here are some picture of the other groups of two being cute!

Happy Birthday to Micah

Micah just celebrated his 7th birthday, and 5th with our family.  Crazy how fast time flies!

He had a "friend" party this year at Andy B's.  They did Laser Tag and the arcade.  I felt sorry for him in a way because his birthday is right at the beginning of the summer and people are traveling.  He didn't have a huge turnout, but it was enough friends to have a good time.  I think he had a great time at the party.

On his actual birthday, Maddie had practice so we went out to dinner the night before.  He chose Compadres for his dinner which was yummy because we hadn't had Mexican in a while.  Then the day after his birthday, we had the family over for a cake and ice cream.  I think he had a great 7th birthday!

Yay for a new bike

So we thought all our celebrating was over, but after church the Sunday after his birthday, we went out to lunch with Cole and Christy, one of the staff members at our church.  By complete coincidence, we discovered that a group of youth from the church were eating lunch at the same place.  Micah mentioned to Cole that he had just had a birthday and then before you know it, he had called the group over to sing to Micah.  I was able to get it on video.  Micah had no idea what was happening until they were well into it but he loved every second of the attention!

I love this little 7 year old boy with all my heart.  He is so sweet and has the most loving heart.  He is still having some behavior challenges (typical for a boy, I know) but he's also shown some growth.  He is an incredible reader, and is also good at math.  He still loves Legos the most of anything and is awesome at building them.  He can follow the instructions but can also make his own unique creations.  I'm looking forward to watching him grow and mature through this next year!
